Install eSilo Cyber Protect on a Mac

To install eSilo's Acronis Cyber Protect Agent software on your Mac start by downloading the installer here: eSiloCyberProtect_AgentForMac_web.dmg

There may be multiple points during the installation where you will be prompted for your account's password, this will be the user account on your Mac, please enter the password when prompted to continue with the setup.

There may be some of the following steps that are not required depending on currently configured system permissions. Follow the instructions in the installer as prompted. 

When the download is complete, open the installation disk image you downloaded, you may be prompted to confirm opening the file because it was downloaded from the internet, allow or confirm this.

Once the disk image has opened open the Installer from the disk image by double-clicking the Install icon seen here:



You may be prompted to confirm opening the application because it was downloaded from the internet, choose Open to continue.

If the installer requests permission to access the Downloads folder, as seen here, click Allow to continue.



The installer will open, click Install to continue.



You will see the downloading and the installation progress:



When the installation is nearly complete you will see a system popup prompting to load system extensions as seen here:



Click Open System Settings.

You. may also see a popup indicating the device can now be registered, leave the popup open, but ignore it for now. 



Back in System Settings, find the option labelled Full Disk Access as seen here, and click it to open the settings:



Find the Cyber Protect Agent and toggle the switch to the On position.



Back in the Installer's Registration popup, click "Register the machine".



This will open the eSilo Cyber Protect login page, you will need to log in here following the prompts on the website. You will need your username, which may be your email address, and your password. If you do not know your password you can choose the Forgot password? option. If configured you will also need your Two Factor Authentication code, if you have not previously configured your Two Factor Authentication code you may be required to configure it when you log in.

If you do not see the below registration prompt after you log in, you may need to return to the installer and click "Register the machine" to continue.

Once logged in you will see the registration popup with the Registration code filled in. You must choose an Account from the Select account menu. In most cases you will choose your account, if your company has multiple user accounts configured and you are an Administrator you may choose an account for another user at your company.



After selecting a user account, click Validate code. When you see the validation confirmation, click Next to proceed.



On the following page you will be prompted to confirm the appropriate backup and protection settings, these will be configured by eSilo with appropriate default settings and can be changed later if desired. For technical users configuring all settings yourself, you can change options on this screen, otherwise simply click Register to continue.



Next you will see a popup prompting for additional system permissions. Click Open Security and Privacy to continue.



System Settings should still be open to the Full Disk Access settings page, if it is not you may need to open it again by choosing Privacy & Security from the list on the left and then Full Disk Access from the list on the right.

Then drag the icon from the installer on to the list of applications on the right side of the System Settings window as shown in step 3 of the instructions shown on the installer.

You will see a popup indicating the application will not have access until it is Quit. Click Quit & Reopen to continue.



You will then see an additional popup prompting for additional system permissions to be granted. Please complete the steps as directed in the installer to grant permission as required.



When all permissions have been granted as needed you will see a confirmation screen in the installer indicating the process is complete.



Once the installation and setup is complete your first backup will occur on schedule as configured. You can click Close to close the installer, and you may also close anything else that was opened during this process.
